What to Expect on a Bike Tour in Chile

What to Expect on a Bike Tour in Chile

Booking a guided mountain bike tour in a foreign country can feel daunting — especially when you are not sure about your fitness level, the terrain, or what is included. We hear these concerns from our clients all the time, and this guide is designed to answer every question before you book.

At Biketur Chile, we have guided hundreds of international visitors through the Andes Mountains over 20 years. Here is an honest, detailed guide to what you can expect when you join us for a bike tour in Santiago.

Before Your Tour — What Happens First

Once you book, we will contact you to discuss your fitness level, cycling experience, and any specific preferences. We adapt every tour to the individual — there is no one-size-fits-all approach here.

On the morning of your tour, we pick you up directly from your hotel. You bring yourself — we handle the bikes, helmets, gear, snacks, and logistics.

The Equipment — What You Will Ride

All Biketur tours use Trek full-suspension mountain bikes or hardtails, adjusted specifically to your height and weight before the ride. Trek is the world’s leading mountain bike brand and our bikes are professionally maintained after every single ride.

We also provide helmets, knee pads if needed, and a hydration pack. If you have your own gear and prefer to bring it, that is perfectly fine too.

The Riding — What Level Do You Need to Be?

We cater to all levels from complete beginners to experienced enduro riders. Before every ride, your guide assesses your comfort level on the bike and adapts the route accordingly.

      • Beginners: Flat to gentle trails, focus on confidence and technique

      • Intermediate: Mix of climbing and descending, some technical sections

      • Advanced: Full enduro experience with technical descents and significant elevation

One of the most common things we hear after a tour is: “I did not think I could do that!” Our guides are skilled at reading riders and pushing them just the right amount to have the best possible experience.

The Guides — Who Will Be With You

Your guide will be a local, bilingual (English/Spanish) mountain bike expert who has been riding these trails for years. They will share their knowledge of the local terrain, history, flora and fauna throughout the day.

More than just leading the route, our guides are there to give you technique tips, help you through technical sections, and make sure you are having the time of your life. Many of our clients say the guide was the highlight of their trip to Chile.
